We begin by choosing the cabinet bay that can conceal a pantry cavity without blocking appliance doors. The interior is framed with 3/4 in. oak plywood using Kreg pocket screws and Titebond III for a rigid box. Doors stay standard to the kitchen, but the inside becomes a purpose-built storage system with full-extension slides and adjustable 5 mm shelf pins. We install Blum soft-close concealed hinges (110°), paint the interior Sherwin-Williams Alabaster, and add a low-profile LED strip on a door-activated switch. Shelves are sized for real items—stand mixer, air fryer, bulk containers—and we often add a shallow spice pull-out. Reveals and hardware are tuned so it reads like a normal cabinet wall.

Measure the big appliances first and set shelf clear heights. For humid kitchens, include desiccant packs and ventilate the LED power supply. For families, put kid-safe snacks lower and glass higher; label bins so everything returns to its spot.
